ALUMINUM PODS: MAKING A CASE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Currently, both plastic and aluminum pods are widely available, however, aluminum is a more commonly recycled material than plastic. This is due to a few factors:

Aluminum is more valuable: Aluminum is a more valuable material than plastic, which means that recycling companies are more likely to invest in the infrastructure needed to recycle it.

Higher recycling rate: According to the Aluminum Association, the recycling rate for aluminum cans is around 49%, which is significantly higher than the recycling rate for plastic containers. 75% of the aluminium ever produced is still in use today.

Ease of recycling: Aluminum is easy to recycle as it can be remelted and reused without losing any of its properties.

Cleaner recycling process: The recycling process of aluminum is cleaner, compared to the recycling process of plastic, as it requires less energy and produces fewer emissions.

Government regulations: Governments also push recycling of aluminum by implementing regulations and incentive programs to increase recycling rates.

It's worth noting that recycling rates can vary by country and region, and it's important to check the recycling options available in your local area. In BC, single serve pods are accepted for recycling.
